Screening Assessments at St Luke’s Catholic Primary School
Dear Parent/Guardian,
On April 21st, 22nd and 28th, Little Lions will be completing Speech and Language Screenings for all Kindergarten students.
Please read below for further information:
What is the purpose of the screening?
The screening is designed to identify children who may benefit from further assessment or support in areas such as:
• Speech sound development
• Understanding and use of language
What does the screening involve?
The screening:
• Is brief (approximately 30 minutes)
• Is conducted individually at school during school hours
• Involves age-appropriate activities such as talking, naming pictures, listening tasks, and simple language activities
• Is a screening only and not a comprehensive diagnostic assessment
What happens after the screening?
• You will receive a written summary report outlining whether any areas of concern were identified.
• If needed, recommendations for further assessment or support will be provided.
• If no concerns are identified, no further action will be required.
Confidentiality
All information gathered during the screening will remain confidential and will be used solely for the purpose of identifying potential speech and language needs. Screening results will be shared with parents/guardians and relevant classroom teachers. Records will be stored securely in accordance with professional and privacy requirements.
Please complete the below Case History Form at your earliest convenience — submissions will be sent to Little Lions to assist in preparing for the Screening Assessments.
